Castlestone Ascension: Book 1

Updated: Apr 28

A powerful dragon is attacking Skyview and it is beyond anything that Brecken ever could have thought possible. It has been tearing off huge chunks of the building and incinerating people. The Crafters are trying to fight back against it, but there is only so much that they can do. How will they get out of this situation? Will Bracken survive?

I absolutely love the concept of this book and the characters. The world is a manageable size and there is intrigue from the start. The magic system is interesting and there is an alluring mystery weaved in. The only problem I had with the story was the pacing. The majority of the books that I read are faster paced and this one did not quite go quick enough for my liking, which is not so much a problem with the book and more of a personal preference. I can see why so many people enjoyed reading this book and why I was recommended to read it.

If you enjoyed this book, there will be more books in this saga coming out later down the road. Other books that are similar: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros because they both hold mystery and are set in fantasy worlds with dragons, Eragon by Christopher Paolini because they both have similar pacing and a dragon focus, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan because both characters are dropped into similarly unfamiliar situations and are in fantasy worlds.
