Episode 1: Eyes To The Sky

Underneath The Bunker by Jesse Abundis is a Vella on Kindle meaning it is an episodic series that comes out on a consistent basis. This is a review of the first episode, Eyes To The Sky. Eyes To The Sky is a really dark and realistic dystopian near future where the entire earth is at war with nuclear warfare. The government has created sirens to warn people of incoming missiles and has created mass panic. There is a great depression and mass rioting. The upper class is trying to flee the planet. Our main character, Andrew, has a girlfriend who knows a guy who has a bunker. The guy isn’t the nicest, but he has a soft spot for Janet, the girlfriend. In the bunker, hopefully they will be safe.

I really like the writing style of the author and their word choice. I felt that this episode went a bit slowly, but it was setting up the whole rest of the story and it made sure that you were invested enough to want to continue reading. With Covid-19 just having passed over, I really understand Janet’s want to get out of isolation even if you are with others. The isolation and the constant fear when out really weighs on you. This was a really good beginning and a well reasoned start.
