The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King: Book 2

Oraya has been captured by Raihn. He has locked her in her room and has guards posted anywhere she could escape from all so that he would not have to kill her. Oraya is still reeling from her father’s death and is coming to terms with the fact that Raihn killed him. Every time that she falls asleeps, she sees her father and every time she wakes up, she loses him again. The worst part is that she still loves Raihn and he her. Will she ever be able to escape his grasp? Will her people survive?

There are spoilers in this paragraph. Skip to the last one if you want to avoid them. This book was so much better than its predecessor. There was so much more intrigue than the previous book and history between the two characters. The way that Raihn cared for her the whole time was so wholesome and how he put her wellbeing above his ability to retain the throne was sweet. Neither of them could kill the other no matter how much they wanted to in the moment. When they finally started to trust each other again and find ways to work together was just perfect.

The next book in this series is The Songbird & the Heart of Stone by Carissa Broadbent. If you enjoyed this book, other books like it are: Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros because both of these books have similar plot points, Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian because the main character also has to watch her parent die in front of her, and Throne of Glass because there is also a mystery that the main character is trying to solve alongside the main plot.
