Crown of Midnight: Book 2

Celaena Sardothien is now the King of Adarlan’s Champion. She has been going through the list of the King’s enemies and killing each one of them for him. We meet up with her and find out that her next target is Archer Finn, a rebel leader that she must hunt down and kill. Archer is someone she knew from the Assassin’s Keep and who is someone who she had a crush on when she was little. As all this is going on, Celaena and Chaol have also been getting closer. Will they be able to hide their romantic feelings for one another? Will she be able to kill Archer to save herself, Chaol, and Nehemia?

Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight have two completely different tones to them. The first is much more of a mystery book with a side plot of romance. This book has much more action and intrigue. So much in this book sets up the pacing and characters that we will come to know and love. There is a dramatic reveal at the end, interesting conflict between characters and so much new information. I love the introduction of witches and some of them end up being my favorite characters. This book is still tons of world building and character dynamics, but there is more of a story along with it to make everything more entertaining. This book would definitely be one that I may read again.

If you enjoyed this book, the next in the series is Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. Other books like this one are: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas because they both have equally devastating plot twists, The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson because of the deception and deep connections that are made, and The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent because both are willing to do whatever it takes to keep those close to them safe.
