Jude is dead. Los Angeles has been bombed by the president. The only way out of the city is through blockades guarded by the PSFs. The Children’s League adults want to abandon the kids or turn them in for a reward, but they are their best option for getting out of the city alive. Cole and Ruby have taken charge. Hopefully their plan will get the children out alive.

With problems mounting and each solution feeling like it just slips through their fingers, this story keeps you on your toes. I love each of these books equally. The highs are wonderful and the depths and absolute torture. Ruby has had to go through so much and keep everyone else afloat while she feels like she is drowning. Liam is still recovering from Ruby wiping his mind. Cole is trying to keep everyone together. Zu feels like she may be abandoned at any moment. Chubs just wants everyone to see reason. Vida is trying to hang on and support her new family. Nico is devastated by Clancy’s betrayal and just wants to make everything right again. With a bittersweet ending, this story feels complete.

Other books like this one are: The Young Elites by Marie Lu because of the way that the main characters get their powers are similar and the main characters both struggle with control over their abilities, Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi because the main characters hate that they have their abilities and want no one else to have to experience what they have gone through, and Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian because they both are fantasy and the main characters both want everyone to be able to be free.
