Lia’s life is hanging in the balance. Rafe is unsure if he will be able to save her. He has to find his men and get them to somewhere safe enough for her to at least partially recover for travel. It is questionable if Kaden, Griz, or Eben could have escaped the bloodbath in Venda. Aster’s death hangs heavy on Lia. Will she be able to save her kingdom?
This book was enjoyable at the end, but was a bit slow at the beginning and middle. I don't love who Lia ended up with. The ending was so wonderful though! It was sweet and nicely wrapped up the plot. There was quite a bit of growth for our main characters.
Other books like this one are: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi because both main characters have similar wants, The Selection series by Kiera Cass because both series have political turmoil, and Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian because both characters desire to be free and are faced with impossible choices.
