The Heart of Betrayal: Book 2

Updated: Apr 29

Lia and Rafe are now in a foreign land and neither of them really has a plan to get out. Lia must play whatever game the Komizar wants her to play and make herself useful so that he does not dispose of her. The only hope for Rafe is that his men arrive before the Komizar gets word that his father is in good health. Lia is still grieving the death of her brother, his wife, and his unborn child. The only way to survive is through connections and playing the game. Will they be able to make it through without revealing that they know each other?

From the start of this book to the end, I struggled to put it down. Lia listens and watches before she strikes. Kaden trusts his kingdom too much, but he cares for Lia. Rafe is strong and charismatic. The Komizar is calculated and terrifying. There is so much in this book and, yet, not enough. It leaves you craving the next book even with all its twists and turns. This world is so immersive and it draws you in, wanting to hear more about how the world we are in got to the point it is. It leaves you with more questions than answers.

If you like this book, the next book in the series is The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson. Other books like this one are: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi because both main characters have similar wants, The Selection series by Kiera Cass because both series have political turmoil, and Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian because both characters desire to be free.
