Cress: Book 3

Updated: Apr 29

Cress, a shy girl who had been locked away in a satellite for the majority of her life, was the best hacker that the Queen had at her disposal. Since she was a Shell, a Lunar unable to be detected, manipulated, or manipulate others through bioelectricity, she was supposed to be killed at birth, but her hacking abilities had kept her from that fate. Those same abilities would also be the Queen’s downfall as long as Cress could get free of the satellite and to Cinder and her crew.

Cress is not my favorite character. She is terrified of everything and needs others to protect her from physical threats. She does not really add much to the whole group dynamic and feels kind of tacked on. Her book is essential for understanding the next book, though, which has some of my favorite characters in the whole series. Definitely not the worst book that I have read, but it is definitely not the best.

If you enjoyed this book, the next book in the series is, Winter. Other books like this one are: the Seven Devils series by Laura Lam and Elizabeth May because they are a found family fighting together in space, the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard because they are both living in a dystopia and get trapped by the elite around them, and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo because both have found families going on a heist to free someone.
